The Steel Industry is one of the fastest growing industrial sectors in India. It is increasingly looking towards domestic as well as export markets for driving the growth momentum. There have been revolutionary changes in the global steel scene with fierce competitive pressures on performance, productivity, price reduction and customer satisfaction. It is our primary aim to achieve the targeted production level of 124 MT of Steel in India.

I am pleased to inform you that Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) jointly with the Ministry of Steel, Government of India and SAIL in association with ITW India Limited is organising the Steel Summit 2011 on 11th February 2011 in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi coinciding with the Stainless Steel Exhibition – a concurrent show of International Engineering & Technology Fair (IETF 2011).

Shri Virbhadra Singh, Minister of Steel, Government of India has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest for this event. Mr P K Misra, Secretary, Ministry of Steel is also expected to address the summit. The summit with the theme “Indian Steel: Moving to the Next Orbit” will discuss on key areas like improving productivity, future demand and growth, infrastructure: supply chain and logistics, environmental issues, SME developmental agenda, technology, research and sustainability.

The summit, a major international leadership forum is expected to have a participation of over 300 industry leaders including policy makers and key stakeholders from large producers, secondary steel players and SME’s to share their views and jointly take action towards the upliftment of steel sector in India.
